Family History Library
The Family History Library is a genealogy research center provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (see Mormon genealogy.) The main purpose of the Family History Library is to help with LDS Temple work, but the genealogy resources are available for LDS church members and members of other faiths as well.
The Family History Library is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the largest genealogy library in the world and is open to the public without charge. There are genealogy records from over 110 countries and includes over 2.4 million rolls of microfilm plus microfiche, books, serials, periodicals and other electronic resources.
The library is working on digitizing the whole collection of microfilm and expects the project to be completed about 2012. The information they do have in digital format is available through their website FamilySearch and through over 4,000 family history centers around the country.
